Popular HBCU host CDK on the Mic is quickly rising to the top as a leader in hosting and celebrity interviewing. Though the road to success has not been one without tribulations, CDK has used his innovative approach to establish himself as an entertainment connoisseur who is here to stay.

CDK’s love for music and entertaining stems from his childhood, where he often took over the microphone while in church. He began to take emceeing seriously when he was called on to entertain the crowd during the pre-show of a musical he was starring in. Afterward, he accepted small gigs sporadically, which solidified him in the party scene. During the summer before his freshman year at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, CDK found himself booked to host a plethora of events. Upon starting college as a Music Education major, his reputation as the party-starter on campus grew.

While the North Carolina A&T marching band member gained popularity for his effective way of controlling a crowd, he began to interview his fellow students at campus events such as step shows and Gym Jam. This attracted the eye of organizers, who sought out CDK to host and interview artists who were booked to perform at North Carolina A&T for homecoming festivities. It did not take long for him to prove that he was a natural speaker, articulating his questions in a way that kept his interviewees engaged and comfortable, the same way that he had done with the parties he hosted. His talents landed him on the radar of HBCU BUZZ, who crowned CDK the #1 HBCU host in the country.

His career continued to blossom when he took a job with North Carolina’s hip-hop radio station 102 Jamz. His stellar performance on-air earned him a nomination for Radio Personality of the Year. Around the same time, CDK was also named the official host for the professional indoor football team, Carolina Cobras. In July of 2021, CDK got the opportunity to interview at his biggest gig yet, the Rolling Loud Festival in Miami, which he called “life-changing.” Differing from previous events, Rolling Loud aligned CDK with today’s biggest hip-hop acts and other essential contacts in the media industry.

While CDK on the Mic has fulfilled a lifetime of achievements, the young man is far from finished. Modeling his work ethic after inspirations Rickey Smiley, Nick Cannon, and Terrance J, this nationally recognized host is preparing to take over the media world by plunging into touring, television, and even literature as he pens his autobiography, which will debut later this year.
