If you’re a fan of R&B, you’re a fan of Ella Mai. The singer-songwriter originally hails from London, discovered on social media by Mustard who went on to sign her to his 10 Summer Records imprint. And if there’s one thing you can expect from an Ella Mai show, it’s her fans singing along to every single song verbatim.

On Saturday, May 6th, Ella Mai took over The Wiltern in Los Angeles, for night one of two sold out shows in the city. The concert arrived in perfect timing for the one-year anniversary of her second studio album titled Heart On My Sleeve, also the same name of the tour.

Rocking an adorable pink ensemble, with a pink pleated skirt, thigh high boots and pigtails, Ella Mai graced the stage and sang her heart out for her fans. Fan favorites include “Shot Clock,” “Leave You Alone,” before she blessed us with a performance of “Boo’d Up.” The single continues to take a course of its own, even winning the Grammy award for Best R&B Song in 2019.

Halfway through the show, Ella Mai took time to show her appreciation. She states, “I’m so happy to be back in Cali. Even though I’m from 5,000 miles away, you guys always treat me like I’m your own.”

The best part came when she had both the females and guys sing along, showing that the audience was a solid mix of both. Special guests for the evening include Kiana Lede, performing their song “Jealous,” and the legendary Babyface performing “Keeps On Fallin’.”

Ella Mai closed the evening with hit singles “This Is” and “DFMU,” reminding concert-goers the power in live music.
