“Sorry but my latest film does not let you escape the current world horrors.” – Jordan Peele

The night of July 18th, 2022 was the world premiere of Oscar winning director Jordan Peele’s latest film “Nope” and, as always, SHEEN was on the scene to cover it all. The premier and exclusive screening took place at the historic TCL Chinese Theater on Hollywood Boulevard. Walking the black carpet were the stars of the film Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun and Brandon Perea.

Other stars also came out to support the premier including Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o, Michael B Jordan, Karueche Tran, Skai Jackson, Marsai Martin, Kyla Pratt, Steph and Ayesha Curry, Kelly Rowland and more.

The film was premiered to a private audience with Peele himself addressing the small crowd before the film commenced. After fondly introducing his cast and thanking the entire crew involved in the film’s making, Peele had this to say regarding the film:

“I wrote this movie in a time that we still exist in where, I think many of us can agree, it feels like we’re in the middle of a bad miracle and it’s a reflection of all the awful and spectacular horrors that we’ve been living through. So if you thought you were gonna get a complete escape from all the horrors of the world, sorry. It’s not that but it was very important for myself and everyone, in telling this story, that we also told a story about love and adventure and joy and happiness and agency. In the end, what we wanted to do here, simply, we wanted to make a big summer blockbuster.”

After the viewing we can confidently ascertain that we do indeed have a summer blockbuster on our hands! We were on the edge of our seats from start to finish. Our prediction is that this horror film with an alien twist is going to do just as well as “Get Out”, Peele’s first film that is now a cult classic. We definitely suggest that you “get out” (pun intended) and watch it as soon as it hits the theaters near you.

In the meantime, check out more of our coverage in the video below.
