During this Women’s History Month, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate those who have shaped the skin care industry in many and varied ways.  We celebrate this trailblazer and give tribute to the skin care industry.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

Perfect Blue Alchemy is handcrafted organic, vegan and natural perfumes, body products and home items made from essential oils and plant oils. We found that one of the most difficult items for women to replace on their wellness journey away from toxic, chemical-laden products was perfume. From this need, Perfect Blue Alchemy was born.

In fact, the very last personal care item I replaced was my perfume and I did so with my own creation. It was very easy to replace lotions, creams, body wash, facial care items, even deodorant and toothpaste, but finding a great smelling, non-alcohol-based perfume that would last all day and was actually beneficial to my body was impossible. My first formulations that would become Perfect Blue Alchemy were created while I was on winter break from school studying to be a biochemist and recovering from fibroid removal surgery. I was diagnosed with fibroids at 26 and by the end of 2014 when I had my surgery, I had successfully replaced all of my products except perfume as part of my protocol to shrink my fibroids.

Starting with our signature fragrances that also have therapeutic, total-body benefits, we branched out into skincare, haircare, a dedicated men’s collection and home items and grew our Perfect Blue Alchemy community. Our philosophy is that products should not contain harmful chemicals but still deliver optimal performance. Health truly is wealth through intentional self-care.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

We have faced a myriad of challenges in our growth. Because we are self-funded, sometimes things we want to do or campaigns we want to create have to wait as we build our financial ability to pursue it. The Covid-19 pandemic was especially challenging as well from our sales taking a hit initially to major supply chain issues that caused shortages for our packaging and more. Our motto is pivot or perish and we have been able to pivot at every twist and turn of this new normal we are in.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

We specialize in intentional self-care products with purpose. All of our products, including our fragrances for women and men, have therapeutic whole-body wellness benefits beyond just smelling good. This is important because people are seeking value above all in the products, they use every day. What sets us apart is our total commitment to giving our customers, our PBA family, our very best. We are extremely responsive, attentive and listen to their needs, questions and concerns. This creates a more elevated experience beyond the transaction of selling.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

Tap into your faith to know and truly believe that anything and everything is possible. When we live in such a space of abundance of possibility, there is never room to give up. Responding to ups and downs in your journey is simply pivoting and pivoting is life.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

Success means creating freedom for me, freedom in time, in ease, in finances and in responsibilities. The ability to choose as a definition of freedom and success is rather underrated but that is true success. Being able to be relatively unburdened from “have-to’s” and utilizing time on “want-to’s”. Success truly is being able to spend your time and money as you please towards living your best life.

What’s next for you?

Perfect Blue Alchemy is only getting bigger, reaching new people daily and expanding and serving intentional self-care. We’ll be introducing some guides to help people transition to natural products easily, education around well-being and more in the coming months.
