If you’re new to LAYA, prepare to fall in love. The singer-songwriter arrives as a breath of fresh air in the music industry, combining her East Coast roots with old-school R&B influences, and adding her own modern twist. With breakout hits “Sailor Moon” & “Brag” feat Fivio Foreign, LAYA soon followed it up with her highly-anticipated debut EP titled Um, Hello.

On Sunday, October 23rd, LAYA delivered a standout opening set as she set the stage for Phabo, who she’s currently on tour with. Taking over The Echo in Los Angeles, LAYA effortlessly swooned the venue with her looks and aesthetic. It’s as if Beetlejuice was a beautiful songstress with high sex appeal. When she’s on stage, it feels difficult to look away because you don’t know what you might miss.

Rocking a black two-piece ensemble with zebra print boots and gloves, LAYA cites Missy Elliott as her biggest influence and it shows in the amount of detail she puts into the visual aspect of her campaign. Most of her music is vibey, but she also has moments where she displays her ability as a powerhouse vocalist. Which may come as a surprise to some because of her small frame.

This performance arrives on the heels of her previous tour with Teyana Taylor and Alex Isley, as LAYA continues to reel in new fans in every city she goes to.
