Please introduce yourself to our reading audience.

My name is Kera McCain. I am originally from the South Side of Chicago, IL.

After graduating college, I moved to Atlanta, GA, met my husband, and due to his line of work, relocated West (Tucson, AZ, and Los Angeles, California); After 6 years, I’m so very proud to call Atlanta, GA, my permanent place of residence! I didn’t quite understand at the time but leaving everything and everyone I knew behind forced growth I didn’t’ know I needed. In hindsight, I credit our moves to having equipped me to all I am and becoming all I can be.

I own and run a full-service digital marketing agency Marketing Experts For All, or MEFA, for short. We are focused on connecting businesses to their most influential audiences online through the use of Google’s Advertising products, like YouTube and Search Engine Marketing; and by finding and converting potential audiences on heavily trafficked social media programs like Facebook Instagram, Twitter, and Linkedin).

After helping business owners reach the right audiences, we keep the profitable marketing partnership going, by helping them retain their customers, through the implementation of marketing automation programs, such as setting up email marketing, e-commerce, subscription services —  or through securing the right brand or commercial partnerships to scale more profitable business opportunities.

What made you want to become an entrepreneur?

I’ve been a leader through birth order I suppose. (laughs). I am the second eldest of 6 children. I’ve always taken command and responsibilities.

I have an endless curiosity to spark new ways of doing things. I love shiny new things, but do my best work with structure and routine analysis. The word no, lights a fire in me to shape new paths. That said, becoming an entrepreneur was inevitable.

I took the leap officially in 2019 when I felt God’s whisper that it was time.

I’d had well-rounded corporate marketing experience, and worked with the most leading brand agencies. It was time to combine the experience, drive, and passion for helping business owners manifest their wildest dreams — and do what I do best, which is: to shape better business through online marketing.

It’s so crazy! I was so fearful of losing a big salary, and a quality of life that I’d set for myself. Now, I can’t imagine living life any other way.

What do you want to say to the woman who doesn’t feel like she’s good enough to make it in the marketplace?

Girl stop! People are out here getting by with likely a fraction of your potential. Get over yourself and get out there. I know there are many valuable things we can gain from you. Stop overthinking. Pray, read, contribute, evolve, repeat.

How would you describe a woman of faith in business?

Great question! A woman of faith is an ethical one. She delivers on her promises. She is transparent and accountable. She shares the wealth; Literally and figuratively.

Why is giving back so important to you?

Because the greatest thing you can contribute to someone is your time. When you give back, someone or something is better because of it. Contributing also creates ownership to the recipient. When you have received support, there’s no better feeling than paying it forward.

Is there anything additional you would like to add?

I am forever grateful for my strengths and indebted to God for his mercy.

My husband and I both feel a great sense of accountability to our ancestors. We will do our part to help bridge the gap in underserved communities. We will help forge unity and drive structured programs that will yield equal civil rights for African American people.
