Finally, mother and civil rights activist, Mamie Till-Mobley’s story is being told.

ABC is preparing to launch their new drama focused on Mamie’s story titled Women of the Movement.

The six-episode drama is set to premiere on January 6th and will focus on her journey and fight for justice in her son, Emmett Till’s case. If you’re unfamiliar with the story, Emmett was murdered in Mississippi on August 28th, 1955 afted allegedly offending a white grocery store cashier named Carolyn Bryant – he was just 14-years-old.

Mamie Till-Mobley is portrayed by Adrienne Warren. Will Smith, Gina Prince-Bythewood, and Jay-Z are executive producers of this project.

Marissa Jo Cerar serves as creator/showrunner/EP of this series.
