Singer, Alexia Jayy has captivated us with her soulful, melodic voice – and we’re not the only one paying close attention. After receiving recognition from Chris Brown, Jayy has felt more motivated than ever to let everyone in the industry know, just who she is! In our exclusive interview, she opened up to us about her upcoming project, Who Raised You and much more!

Tell us about your musical journey. Did you always know you wanted to become a singer?

I sang my first solo in church at the age of two years old went on to sing at the Apollo Theater at the age five. My mother started a gospel group when I was nine and we had a hit single called “Lukewarm” which has gotten over 1 million views. And yes, I’ve always known I wanted to be a singer. My whole family on my mom’s side sings, so I kind of

grew up in it listening and watching, waiting on my turn.

What inspired the visuals for your project, Who Raised You?

I think my own personal experience inspired the visual. Being a single parent isn’t easy, so I wanted people to understand on each side. What it takes to be a parent and what it does to children. We wanted to capture a powerful moment that everyone can relate to.

How did you feel after getting recognition from Chris Brown?

Getting recognition from Chris Brown was one of the most amazing feelings. I don’t even think I went to sleep after hearing the news (laughs).

What are you currently working on and what can we expect to see from you in the rest of 2021?

Right now, we’re working towards putting music out and letting people get to know me as a singer/songwriter. As far as what you can expect in the rest of 2021, definitely more music!
