Earlier this week, Former Georgia Democratic candidate, Stacey Abrams was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize!

Abrams and her organization, ‘Fair Fight Action’ played a huge role in the increased rate of Black voters in the state of Georgia this past election.

With her work, Abrams and her organization turned the entire state of Georgia blue! Lars Haltbrekken, a Socialist Party politician in Norway’s Parliament revealed the exciting news. Haltbrekken stated that Abrams followed the footsteps of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., in the fight for law and civil rights. Back in 1964, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was honored with the Nobel prize in 1964. Haltbrekken said, “Abrams’ efforts to complete King’s work are crucial if the United States of America shall succeed in its effort to create fraternity between all its peoples and a peaceful and just society.”

Since 2014, Abram has worked nonstop against voter suppression 2014. She launched the ‘New Georgia Project.’ This new project helped unregistered Black Georgians sign up to vote in the midterm elections. Stacey Abrams joins the list of nominees this year including Russian dissident Alexei Navalny, the World Health Organization, and climate campaigner Greta Thunberg.

The 2021 winners will be announced in October of this year.

Congratulations Stacey Abrams!
