SwaVay wants to be included in every music-lover’s Top 5 list, and he’s not stopping until he gets there. The Atlanta native prides himself in his versatility, straddling the genres of rap, trap, and R&B and creating his own melting pot of sounds. Plus, it certainly didn’t hurt to have a standout cosign from legendary producer Metro Boomin.

Now, SwaVay returns with his highly-anticipated debut album called Almetha’s Son, released via Giant/Def Jam Recordings. The 15-track project pays homage to his mother, as well as his personal journey navigating the streets of Atlanta as well as in the household. Almetha’s Son features standout appearances from James Blake, G Herbo, and Destin Conrad.

To celebrate the release of his debut album Almetha’s Son, SwaVay hosted a screening of his autobiographical short film ‘GO SHORTY’ at Brain Dead Studios on Fairfax. The film was shown to a packed house, yielding standing room only for all the guests. Following the screening, SwaVay and his film partner Connor Fisher participated in a Q&A moderated by Apple Music’s Cyle ‘Zini’ Tahsini.

About the inspiration behind the deeply personal film, SwaVay said, “Ultimately I want people to feel closer to me and for me to feel closer to the listeners.”
