Jazz lovers, it’s a sad day. It has just been announced that the 2021 New Orleans Jazz Fest has been cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns

The festival was initially postponed to October 2021, however it has now been cancelled after the state of Louisiana set a new record for COVID-19 hospitalization.

Reuters has reported, “Louisiana’s vaccination rate ranked it 47th among U.S. states for first doses given.” The state is also seeing a decline in available nurses and hospital capacity.

The cancellation comes just nine days after putting tickets on sale for part of the festival. At this time, the festival is set to return to its usual spring timeframe in 2022 and is scheduled for April 29th to May 8th.
