Coming off the heels of the wild or not-so-wild ride of 2020, many of us remained in the home just to keep 2021 safe. If I can speak for all of us, we binged movies and tv shows until we couldn’t binge anymore. So check out this shortlist of some of the films, along with a few trailers, that kept our families entertained and kept the social media conversations rolling.

Judas and the Black Messiah 

This Warner Bros. film tells the true story of FBI informant William O’Neal (LaKeith Stanfield) and how his infiltration of the Illinois Black Panther Party led to the death of their young, mesmerizing leader Fred Hampton (Daniel Kaluuya).

Fatherhood

Kevin Hart wowed us with the expansion of his acting skills in the Netflix Drama. Based on the memoir Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss and Love by Matthew Logelin, Hart plays a single dad trying to figure out life after the unexpected death of his wife. 

Bruised

Coming in on the tail-end of 2021, Bruised, directed by Halle Berry, had the internet in a frenzy after Berry’s long-awaited return to the screen. Jackie Justice (Halle Berry) reclaims her power as a fighter, mother, and woman in the Netflix film.
