Black and brown female global community and social impact ecosystem, The Rooted Collaborative, announced today the details of their annual retreat, The Rooted Retreat: UpRooted, taking place July 22-24, 2020. Focusing on the theme “UPRooted”, while alsoresponding to the guidelines of social distancing during the global COVID-19 pandemic, founder and creator Kishshana Palmer, is taking the immersive encounter online for an unforgettable stay-at-home retreat experience.
This year’s programming features a diverse roster of powerhouse experts, tastemakers, and creatives, from across the globe, who are set to deliver vanguard conversations on varying topics such as branding, financial planning, mental wellness, faith, fundraising how-to’s and public speaking. Headlining the event are Black female thought-leaders, including chief operating officer of Wikimedia Janeen Uzzell; empowerment speaker and beauty professional Dre Brown; and celebrity event producer and bellwether Karleen Roy.
“With the current social and racial climate, we feel it’s more important than ever to showcase Black women, Indigenous women and women of color who are leading the way and showing exceptional strength,” states Palmer. “Our mission is to educate, empower, and inspire the next generation of industry leaders through a combination of professional preparation and holistic wellness. This retreat embodies all of that and more.”
The Rooted Retreat: UpRooted will broadcast live from a virtual main stage, offering participants the opportunity to be inspired by listening to panel discussions, engaging in moderated question and answer sessions, and participating in live polling. The July 22 conference kicks off at 6 p.m. with a live podcast recording, followed by keynote addresses, signature sessions and business panels. Attendees will participate in virtual networking using community connection areas that allows participants to chat with other attendees globally, in an effort to cultivate new relationships, discuss specific topics of interest and to learn more about partners and sponsors. In addition, custom UPRooted Retreat Boxes + Guides will serve as an interactive accompaniment, with resources and information about the conference experience that are designed to energize participants’ personal and professional lives.
