Sony Music has just reported that late music icon, Whitney Houston has just become the first black recording artist to have three RIAA Diamond-certified albums since her second album titled, Whitney.

The album has been certified 10x platinum. The album was released back in 1987 – where five of her singles made the Billboard Top 10 singles. In addition, Whitney’s debut album, Whitney Houston charted three consecutive number ones. Total, she has had seven consecutive number one hit singles.

Artists that have two Diamond albums include Michael Jackson, 2Pac, and Mariah Carey.

On November 7th, Whitney Houston will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during their 35th annual ceremony airing on HBO at 8PM EST.
