Variety has reported that Whoopi Goldberg will star in an upcoming film titled, Till – that will take a look at Emmett Till’s mother’s fight for justice in the death of her 14-year-old son, Emmett Till.
In 1955, Emmett Till was visiting Money, MS from Chicago and was killed for allegedly flirting with a white woman.
The film follows the story of Maime’s decision to leave her son’s casket open that ended up shocking the nation. Her decision to do so was made to show the terror of racism and the death of her son.
Goldberg will star as Till’s grandmother, Alma Carthan and she will also serve as a producer on this project.
Actress, Danielle Deadwyler will portray Maime Till-Mobley.
