Kanye West and Drake are two of music’s biggest superstars… which means a joint concert is one for the books. Kanye recently unveiled his highly anticipated deluxe version to Donda, while Drake unleashed his sixth album Certified Lover Boy.

When news was announced that Kanye was throwing a benefit concert called Free Larry Hoover enlisting Drake as a co-headliner, fans were left in a frenzy. On Thursday December 9th, both rappers took over the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, gracing the stage while the concert was live-streamed on the Amazon Music app and the Amazon Music Twitch channel.

The goal was to raise awareness and support for fellow Chicago native Larry Hoover, best known as the cofounder and gang leader for a gang called Gangster Disciples. He is currently detained in ADX Florence prison in Colorado serving multiple life sentences, after being convicted of murder in the 1970’s.

Kanye kicked off the beautiful evening with all his greatest hits, from “Ultralight Beam” and “Jesus Walks” to “All Falls Down” and “Testify.” Fans filled every seat in the arena, as they recited the lyrics verbatim. After Kanye blew through his catalog of hits, including “Mercy” and “Can’t Tell Me Nothing,” it was time for Ye to pass the baton to Drizzy.

Before Drake entered his own catalog of hits, he made sure to take time to tell the people he appreciated them, and even called Kanye West “one of his idols.” Soon after, he said it was “game time,” proceeding to perform “Girls Like Girls,” “Way 2 Sexy,” and “God’s Plan.”
