The U.S. Department of Justice has charged four former and current Louisville police detectives with federal charges in connection with the raid on Breonna Taylor’s home in 2020. According to General Merrick Garland- Joshua Jaynes, Brett Hankison, Kelly Goodlett, and Kyle Meany are facing charges for unconstitutional use of force and obstruction, unlawful conspiracy, and civil right offenses. Jaynes and Meany allegedly “drafted and approved a false affidavit to support a search warrant for Ms. Taylor’s home” according to Assistant U.S. Attorney General Kristen Clarke. Jaynes, Hankison and Meany were federally indicted. Goodlett was “charged on information”, and charged with one count of conspiracy.
