Let’s be real. 2020 has shaken us at our core. What’s going on in the world today is likely not glued to the vision boards hundreds of thousands of women created in January 2020, fragments of this new normal are not likely embedded in our daily mantras to manifest your future. Or was it?

When was the last time you verbalized, “I need a break from my job, entrepreneurial business, or a pause from life’s routine.” If these thoughts have crossed your mind, this was your plea for help from the universe to support you.  And guess what?  The break is here, it may not look the way you thought it might, but it’s here.

2020 has created a global awakening; from the Covid-19 pandemic to the #BLM movement. Seasons fueled by uncertainty. This year’s events are enough to derail even the most grounded woman’s dreams.  Nevertheless, as women, we are always evolving. As you pivot through this pandemic, I encourage you to shift your mindset to view 2020 as a year of awakening. A global emergence of light to reset, revive, and recreate the life you want.

Here are 5 Steps to Help Women Get What You Want in Business and Life in 2020:

  1. PRACTICE AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE

Acknowledging all the good things you have and the people in your life makes it easy to feel good about your life and hopeful for the future. Expressing gratitude makes it easier to take care of ourselves and bounce back from adversity. When you praise your colleagues, you’ll be valued as a leader when you praise and encourage your team. Business relationships are easier when people enjoy your great attitude and want to do business with you.

GRATITIUDE SEEDWORK –   Start a gratitude journal. Write down all the people, things, experiences, and beauty around you. Tell someone thank-you every day.

  1. CREATE A DAILY ROUTINE

Self-care is not selfish. Studies* show healthy, happy, and successful people have a solid daily routine. Consistency yields success and developing habits that shape productivity for a fruitful lifestyle.  Spend five minutes sketching out your day, try “Get What You Want, Write it Down to Make it Happen, the 90-Day Master Planner,” available on Amazon.  Writing boosts your memory and, sparks your intention to know what you want to do and get it done. (*American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine, 2019, BusinessInsider.com 2018).

DAILY ROUTINE SEEDWORK – Develop a healthy morning routine is the first step to a great day. Your morning routine should consist of things you love; meditation/prayer, a cup of tea, early-morning workout of yoga, jogging, or a walk around your neighborhood. Do whatever boosts your energy and start your day on a happy note.

  1. REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE – YOUR AUTHENTIC SELF

To get what you want, you have to know what you want.

  • 43% of women don’t know what their aims are
  • 63% of women don’t believe they have the skills or talent to get what they want

(Shine New Age Media Poll, 2019)

From an early age our parents, family, school, church, and neighborhood help shape our identity.  Girls become women and we rarely re-evaluate how our identity was shaped.  We create opinions related to our identity surrounding beauty, ethnicity, age, religion, socio-economic status, class, gender, sex, and sexuality, without re-examining who we have become and how we view the world around us, now.

AUTHENTICITY SEEDWORK – I invite you to write down and evaluate how you developed your views and how they serve your life today.  What if societal norms were pressure and guilt-free? How would your life perspective change? You might find our authentic self.

  1. INCORPORATE MINDFULNESS IN YOUR LIFE

Mindfulness is the state of being present and fully engaged with whatever we’re doing at the moment.  Mindfulness has numerous benefits, everything from decreased stress and sadness to increased focus and happiness.

MINDFULNESS SEEDWORK – Meditation, Yoga, and Writing are three powerful mindfulness tools that anyone at any level can incorporate and garner almost immediate relief and redirection.  If you’re new to meditation, try www.headspace.com, an enlightening tool for new or seasoned meditation for all times of the day. Yoga is an ancient and powerful mind and body practice, try Yogi and Writing, www.OctaviaRaheem.com.  Writing is not only cathartic, but your thoughts entangle themselves when they pass through your fingertips.  Writing reinforces your memory, sets your commitment to yourself, and conspires with the universe to make it happen.

  1. CRYSTALIZE YOUR AIMS

When you know what you want, you set yourself up to eliminate distractions and unwanted noise. Your polite power of “no” amplifies to save space to create change that matters.

AIM SEEDWORK – “Crystalize Your Aims” is a self-paced e-course designed to help women get clear on who they are, who they wish to become, and identify the superpowers within (we all have them).  Available here.

Stay safe and use this awakening time to go within yourself.
