The glitz and glamour of Hollywood met the richness of African culture at the 7th Annual Hollywood and African Prestigious Awards (HAPAWARDS). This prestigious event, held on Saturday, October 7, 2023, was a star-studded evening that celebrated excellence in creativity and artistry.

 

The Venue: The Alex Theater

The red carpet rolled out at 4 PM at The Alex Theater, located in the heart of Glendale, California. This iconic venue, with its historical significance and elegant ambiance, served as the perfect backdrop for a night of recognition and celebration.

 

The Hosts: Keith Robinson and Lisa Yaro

Leading the evening as hosts were two remarkable talents: Keith Robinson, best known for his role in the hit movie “DreamGirls,” and Lisa Yaro, the Afro-Beats sensation. Their charisma and charm kept the audience entertained throughout the event.

 

The Distinguished Honorees

The 7th Annual HAPAWARDS honored an array of outstanding individuals who have left an indelible mark on the entertainment and media industry. Among the honored were:

  1. Eric Roberts – Renowned actor, recipient of the Global Cinema Icon Award.
  2. Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs – Veteran actor, recognized with the Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs Lifetime Achievement Award in Entertainment.
  3. The late Billy Washington – Celebrated stuntman, posthumously awarded the Trailblazer Award for Stuntman Excellence.
  4. Albert K. Dwumfour – President of the Ghana Journalist Association, recognized as the Media Entrepreneur of the Year.
  5. Lateef “Power” Kayode – Honored with The Ooni Of Ife Leadership Award, also known as the King’s Award.
  6. Zolani Mkiva – Internationally acclaimed poet from South Africa, received the International Man of The Year Award.
  7. Winnie Stacks – International Celebrity Stylist and Influencer, who was presented with the Visionary Award.
