At the premiere of Divorced Sistas in Hollywood, I had the pleasure of speaking with several cast members—both women and men—about what audiences can expect from Tyler Perry’s newest BET+ series. And let me tell you, this isn’t just another drama—it’s a layered, intentional, and emotionally honest look at what it means to start over, love yourself again, and build real connection.
(L-R) Briana Price, Porscha Coleman, Khadeen Indrea, Tyler Perry, Letoya Luckett and Jennifer Sears attend the premiere of “Tyler Perry’s Divorced Sistas” BET+’s new series at NeueHouse Hollywood on June 06, 2025 in Hollywood, California.
The series follows five women—Rasheda (LeToya Luckett), Geneva (Khadeen Indréa), Naomi (Porscha Coleman), Tiffany (Briana Price), and Bridgette (Jennifer Sears)—all navigating life after divorce while juggling successful careers, motherhood, friendship, and healing.
During the screening, Tyler Perry told the audience, “These women are strong, powerful, and more mature. They’ve been through the woes of relationships and the ups and downs of marriage—and now they find themselves in peculiar situations.” And what’s so powerful about this show is how relatable those situations are.
In our conversation, Porscha Coleman shared a behind-the-scenes detail that made me smile: “We actually scheduled the table reads ourselves. It was fun watching all the ups and downs our characters went through across the series. You really start to see how layered and vulnerable they are.” That kind of ownership and collaboration between the cast speaks volumes about the energy behind this project.
Jennifer Sears, who plays Bridgette, was open about the journey her character takes. “So many of us shrink ourselves. We settle. But Bridgette is evolving,” she said. “She’s learning to go after what she truly wants. And the best part is, her sisters don’t let her lose herself in the process.”
LeToya Luckett, who plays Rasheda, spoke beautifully about the importance of sisterhood. “It’s about showing up. Being there. Sometimes it’s just being a listening ear—and that’s enough,” she told me. That level of emotional support is what anchors the show.

Briana Price shared that rebuilding was a major theme for her character Tiffany. “It was important for her to be intuitive and honest,” she said. “I pulled from my own life experiences to really evolve into this role.” Price also reflected on how Tiffany’s tendency to focus on others was often a way to avoid doing the deeper inner work. “I think a lot of us do that,” she added. “But at some point, you have to look in the mirror and tell the truth.”
While the women lead the series, I also spoke with several of the male cast members about how Divorced Sistas approaches Black masculinity. What stood out was the emotional accountability. These aren’t one-dimensional men—we’re seeing growth, vulnerability, and the shedding of outdated ideals. It’s a welcomed shift that adds real depth to the storyline.

Jennifer Sears summed up a powerful theme of the night when she said, “We’re still pushing back against the ‘strong Black woman’ trope. We want to feel seen. We want to be protected. And this series lets us be soft without apology.”
Divorced Sistas isn’t just about heartbreak—it’s about healing. It’s about what happens when women stop surviving and start reclaiming. When sisterhood becomes sanctuary. And when men are invited to grow beside them, not just watch from the sidelines.

With a cast that brings both emotional depth and undeniable chemistry, the series invites viewers to see themselves in the characters’ triumphs, struggles, and transformations. Whether you’re navigating your own fresh start or cheering on your sisters who are, this show is a reminder that starting over doesn’t mean starting from scratch—it means starting stronger.
