All fashion designers dream about having their creations modeled by celebrities. Except for a few, the dream seldom becomes a reality. Australian designer Abby Kheir is one of the exceptions. Her outfits have been worn by some of the biggest household names on the planet, such as Khloe Kardashian and Kylie Jenner. What makes Kheir’s rags-to-riches journey more impressive is that she stumbled into the world of fashion design by accident.

“Growing up, I never wanted to work in the fashion industry,” revealed the internationally acclaimed designer. “I never studied fashion in college or set about getting a job in that world. But, I was always extremely interested in what others were wearing, what was trendy, and what would look good on my friends and me.”

Kheir added, “I admired cutting-edge individuals with a flamboyant sense of style and envisioned designs in my head that would look good on certain people. The trouble was no other designer was creating the sort of products I felt should be out there, and so I made up my mind to do it myself.”

Kheir taught herself everything she possibly could about fashion and design in an attempt to bring the vision in her head to life. She named her strictly online business Abyss by Abby. She began identifying and targeting a specific niche in the market she felt wasn’t being fulfilled.

Her distinctly recognizable, bold, and eye-catching designs proved a sure-fire hit with ladies who weren’t afraid of making a statement and celebrating their natural beauty. Through word-of-mouth and social media, Kheir’s brand grew until it caught the attention of such iconic luminaries as Khloe Kardashian, Nicole Scherzinger, and Sofia Ritchie.

Kheir explained, “The sort of celebrities who are attracted to the Abyss by Abby range tend to be strong, confident, sexy, and not afraid to show it. This idea reflects our clientele as a whole. If you’ve got a problem with a strong woman in an eye-catching dress that celebrates her beauty, that’s your issue; deal with it.”

As a self-made success, the ethos behind Abyss by Abby is one of self-determination, empowerment, and the opportunity for a female to succeed on her own terms in what is still a male-dominated world.

Abby Kheir said, “No woman should ever apologize for being the center of attention. I built my fashion company from scratch to celebrate all that is feminine in this world and design dresses that will make a woman feel like a goddess.”
