The 2023-2024 semester marks the Ailey/Fordham BFA’s 25th anniversaryof offering the best of both worlds— professional dance training at the official school of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and an exceptional liberal arts education. Students will shine on stage during upcoming performances including the BFA Senior Choreography Concert taking place on Tuesday, October 31 –Thursday, November 2 at 7pm and 9pm along with the BFA Fall Concert on Tuesday, November 14 – Thursday, November 16 at 7:30pm and Friday, November 17 at 4:30pm. Ailey/Fordham BFA students are also offered the unparalleled opportunity to perform in Memoria, Alvin Ailey’s touching tribute to his dear friend and mentor Joyce Trisler. Over the course of several weeks, students will be rehearsing with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Rehearsal Director and former School student Ronni Favors, culminating in several performances with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater during the 2023 New York City Center holiday milestone season.
This season marks the 12th year of the New Directions Choreography Lab (NDCL), a creative residency program hosted by The Ailey School to cultivate an environment for choreographers to feel free to take creative risks and explore new ideas. In 2023-2024, NDCL welcomes four new awardee/advisor pairs: Babacar Top and Dean Moss, Marla Phelan and Stefanie Batten Bland, Ingrid and Tony and Darshan Singh Bhuller, and Burr Johnson and Melanie George.
