This binge-worthy season first aired in 2013 and is still going strong in 2024. The streets of Atlanta are talking, and they are talking about this upcoming season! Who will survive another season? Is someone getting voted off the island? Will the sisterhood be restored with Quad? Can Sweet Tea watch her words with Dr. Jackie? Will Dr. Heavenly personally deliver some heavenly shade? SHEEN Magazine was able to sit down with the cast of Married to Medicine to speak about the upcoming season and what the viewers could expect tonight.
Oh, the dynamics of our medical group? Picture a mix of Grey’s Anatomy meets Real Housewives, with a touch of group therapy thrown in. We’re doctors and doctors’ wives, so there’s a lot of big personalities, strong opinions, and, of course, drama. I’ll admit, I feel like the black sheep of the group sometimes—being the youngest and maybe a little too direct for everyone’s taste. There’s definitely some built-up frustration, but when it comes to events or our personal missions, we somehow rally together like a dysfunctional family at Thanksgiving. It’s like a sisterly bond—loving, chaotic, and just a bit petty. But hey, what’s family without a little dysfunction, right?
Lateasha “Sweet Tea” Lunceford
How do you keep up with your natural beauty?
“To me, beauty isn’t defined by other people’s opinions. It starts from within. When you truly see and embrace your own beauty, everything else confidence, self-assurance just naturally follows. And my man? He sees me as beautiful because I see myself as beautiful. I don’t let anyone else define who I am, and that’s the real power of beauty: owning it for yourself.”
How is the group?
“I think it’s always going to feel like I’m finding my footing to some degree, but I’m definitely growing more confident in who I am. As I get to know the ladies better, it’s giving me the space to really be my true self and even discover new things about myself. One of the biggest realizations I’ve had is that I’m a lot stronger than I ever gave myself credit for. Even when negativity strikes, I still feel empowered by these women in some way. It’s a unique dynamic, but it’s helping me grow, and I’m leaning into that.”
Dr. Simone Whitmore
How is the group?
“Most of us are getting along well. Contessa returned to the group, and it was a spicy return! This group will always have twists and turns within our relationships because we have a dynamic personality and are very outspoken. I think most of us have love and respect for one another, and we refuse to give up on each other.”
How do you keep up with your natural beauty?
“I use a facial skin regimen daily, which moisturizes my skin, and I have acceptance of the signs of aging. When I look in the mirror, I give myself grace for my imperfections and focus on loving everything I see in the mirror. My beauty is based on the vibe and aura I feel and exude daily!”
Tell us about how you were able to continue your marriage.
“My marriage continues because of prayer, therapy, and a village of family and friends who lift us and support us when things get tough. I finally realized that most of our disagreements are minor, and there is probably nothing we cannot conquer when we choose to work together!”
Phaedra Parks
What is the dynamic among everyone?
“It’s always interesting to be a newer member of any group. The dynamics of this group can sometimes be very interesting. However, that being said, everybody knows I love a good time, so I always make lemons into lemonade!”
What does beauty mean to you, and how have you cultivated your beauty landscape?
“Beauty is not only about an outward physical aesthetic but internal wholeness and peace. I am a huge advocate for self-care, which includes daily meditation, daily stretching and Pilates. Living life with appreciation and inner harmony radiates outward beauty.”
What has been your experience transitioning onto other shows while being on Married to Medicine?
“My experience transitioning to other shows while participating in “Married to Medicine” has been refreshing. I’ve always attributed my success to evolving, courageously accepting new challenges, and never being afraid to leave situations that don’t make my soul smile.”
Dr. Heavenly Kimes
How is the group this season?
“I think the group is very different in the best way. The core group is still together, and we all love each other. The group is good.”
What does beauty mean to you, and how have you cultivated your beauty landscape?
“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Beauty is less than ten layers of makeup. Beauty is inside and in your natural look. You don’t have to get dressed whenever you leave the house; you can be beautiful with a bare face because beauty is genuinely within yourself.”
How does it feel to be an empty nester?
“It’s bittersweet. I love, love, love my children. There was always something going on when they were here, and now it’s just peaceful. That’s good and bad because sometimes I miss my kids so much, and then there are other times when I enjoy the peace. I am very proud of my kids. They all attend HBCUs, and I am ecstatic they are doing well.”
Toya Bush-Harris
How are the girls?
“Honestly, we are all at a much better place. We’re arguing more with family than friends. Our ultimate goal is always to come back around and have a lot of fun together.”
What does beauty mean to you, and how do you say you have cultivated your landscape of beauty?
“Beauty starts from the inside and works its way out. It’s important for me to maintain a peaceful and spiritual foundation that radiates on the exterior. I am reading a lot of inspirational messages, I attend church and I do a lot of self-care to keep my mental and check. Wine also is a nice cherry on top.”
How have you navigated motherhood with teenagers?
“I decided early on to maintain a motherly relationship with my sons rather than a friendship. I am someone that they can talk to and trust. I let them know that we have no boundaries regarding conversations as long as they are worded correctly. Having teenagers comes with many tough conversations, but we tend to agree as long as they have God as their foundation.”
Dr. Jackie Walters
How do you plan to improve awareness of Black Women’s maternal mortality rates this season?
“The Med Gala, for one! I plan on giving back to a foundation that’s very near and dear to my heart. At this moment, I am ready to sit on panels and provide resources and information to those who need it. I want more responsibility for that. I am passionate about this and want to make a difference.”
How are we feeling about M2M season 11?
“This season is coming to deliver! This is a suspenseful and rewarding thriller. It’s messy, but it comes out amazing and I’m so excited for you all to see it.”
In 2023, you and your husband traveled with friends to Hilton Hood. You both tried to forget this place, but you and your husband were able to grow there. What advice could you give couples when it comes to facing fear head-on?
“Understand that good people make bad decisions. Marriage is not easy at all. Get into therapy and get some counseling! Please sit down and talk about it. Address the elephant in the room; be transparent and be honest. It will be hard, but it will be worth it.”
What is the temperature in the room with you and Sweet Tea this season?
“I must say that I have never and will never be fubbed. Silence is golden, and the temperature is nice and warm.”
Quad
How do you feel about the group this season?
“Based on the group’s dynamic this season, I will say we’re in a state of repair and restoration.”
What does beauty mean to you?
“Beauty to me means confidence, expressing your own personal creativity and style.”
How is your journey currently?
“My journey of pursuing happiness allowed me to move forward with a new love.”
