Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater continues its celebratory 65th anniversary season with a US tour reaching more than 20 cities from coast-to-coast. This February, Ailey’s extraordinary dancers will grace stages in Miami, Washington DC, Birmingham, AL, Auburn, AL, Philadelphia, and Chapel Hill, NC showcasing a diverse repertory. Among the phenomenal works featured in the tours repertory are two world premieres specially commissioned for Ailey – Amy Hall Garner’s first work for the Company CENTURY, and former Ailey dancer Elizabeth Roxas-Dobrish’s duet Me, Myself and You. Audiences will also enjoy new productions of Ronald K. Brown’s Dancing Spirit – a tribute to legendary Artistic Director Emerita Judith Jamison, Alonzo King’s audacious Following the Subtle Current Upstream, Jamar Roberts’ Ode featuring an all-female cast, and Hans van Manen’s tour-de-force Solo; as well as this season’s beloved Ailey Classics program highlighting a selection of repertory spanning of breadth of Alvin Ailey‘s rich catalog. The inspiring grand finale of each performance is Mr. Ailey’s must-see signature masterpiece Revelations, which beautifully captures the essence of African American culture and spirituality. Ailey’s 2024 US Tour will continue to several cities making a final stop Mother’s Day weekend (May 10-12) at NJPAC in Newark, NJ before a one-week engagement at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in Brooklyn, NY from June 4-9.
