On the eve of hip-hop’s 50th anniversary, Amazon Music is coming together to invite hip-hop fans around the world to provide their best freestyles—as well as other creative expressions like dances, spoken word poetry, and more—over brand-new beats from Hit-Boy, the producer behind global hits from Nas, Beyoncé, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and Travis Scott; and TRAKGIRL, an emerging producer with recent songs with A$AP Rocky, 21 Savage, Metro Boomin, and Vic Mensa. Fans can hear “Boo Bop,” produced and written by Hit-Boy and Big Hit, and “Light It Up,” produced by TRAKGIRL, on Amazon Music now. The beats are also available for fans around the globe as a TikTok Duet now, and “50 & Forever” invites fans around the globe to deliver their best freestyles and creative expressions as #OpenVerseChallenge Duet now. Watch Hit-Boy discuss the campaign here and TRAKGIRL discuss the campaign here. “As we celebrate 50 years of hip-hop, I am super excited for the next generation. It’s a true blessing to be a part of this journey and I can’t wait to hear how my sound inspires the next generation of music creators. I hope to be a vessel and inspire others as we continue to push our music legacy forward,” said TRAKGIRL. “We are doing something special for Hip-Hop 50 by releasing an instrumental of ‘Boo Bop,’ the first single from Big Hit’s new album. We teamed up with Amazon Music, giving you all the chance to freestyle or do your thing over the instrumental. Go crazy on this joint!” said Hit-Boy. Throughout 2023, Amazon Music has paid tribute to hip-hop’s monumental influence on music, culture, and society with “50 & Forever,” which has brought fans together to honor hip-hop’s undeniable legacy and champion the artists writing the next 50 years of hip-hop’s history. Created by Rotation—the hip-hop and R&B brand from Amazon Music—”50 & Forever” has given hip-hop its well-deserved flowers, with curated events, livestreams, playlists, original content, and new music, spanning Amazon Music, Twitch, Audible, Prime Video, and Amp. The campaign kicked off with Generational Queens, a short film centered around the first lady of hip-hop, Queen Latifah, and her groundbreaking, respect-demanding feminist anthem “U.N.I.T.Y.”—which turns 30 this year. Directed by Fenn O’Meally and featuring a Black, all-female cast, the film captures the journey of music discovery and shows that when hip-hop fandom starts at home, it carries on for generations. “50 & Forever” has been at the center of some of the year’s most important hip-hop events, livestreaming culture-defining moments like J. Cole’s 2023 Dreamville Festival and Mary J. Blige’s annual Strength of a Woman Festival and Summit. All summer long, Amazon Music has also hosted “50 & Forever” City Sessions concerts in New York and Atlanta. Livestreamed to fans around the globe on the Amazon Music channel on Twitch and Prime Video, these concerts have featured landmark performances from some of the most important names in hip-hop, including Clipse, Jeezy, Wale, Rick Ross, T.I., and Joey Bada$$. All year long, “50 & Forever” has curated original content, playlists, and programming for hip-hop fans young and old, including “Rap Rotation Rewind in DJ Mode,” a listening experience hosted by legendary radio/television personality Free Marie (106 & Park, Power 105.1). Available to stream now, “Rap Rotation Rewind in DJ Mode” is an immersive listening experience that provides a steady stream of iconic music from hip-hop’s five decades, curated by the team of experts from Amazon Music and drawn from customers’ listening habits.
