Anderson .Paak lights up any room he walks into.

On Saturday, December 2nd, the 8x-Grammy winning singer, songwriter, and recording artist graced the red carpet at the Get Lit Gala, which took place at The Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. The event was presented by Get Lit- Words Ignite, a Los Angeles-based education nonprofit who has made it their mission to increase literacy, mobilize youth, and energize communities. Through poetry and visual media, they’re able to make a difference in the lives of young people.

As we were awaiting Anderson’s highly-anticipated arrival, you couldn’t help but appreciate the coveted items being sold in the auction. As soon as Anderson arrived, he blessed the red carpet with his bubbly, outgoing personality, even throwing down some dance moves for the cameras on site.

Anderson wore an all green Gucci suit, paired with a beige hat and beige Vans. He also sported shades and a choker necklace, with his chest tattoo peaking through his wifebeater. This evening served as Get Lit’s 13th annual gala, this time honoring Anderson while celebrating WME and Vans.

Get Lit – Words Ignite was founded in 2006 by author and educator Diane Luby Lane, using spoken word and visual media to improve literacy and empower the youth. Through in-and after-school programs centered on classic and contemporary poetry and multi-media expression, Get Lit advances education, promotes literacy, and gives opportunities for under-resourced young people to create community, transform their lives, and raise up their authentic voices. Their programs span the classroom to career including training in high-demand fields, opening doors to life-changing creative opportunities, internships, scholarships, and jobs.
