Just this morning, it was announced that late actor, Chadwick Boseman who passed away late August after battling with colon cancer received a IFG Gotham Award for his performance in Netflix’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

The ’20s-inspired film features Viola Davis as the main star while Boseman portrayed a trumpet player named Levee. This film marked Boseman’s last film before his passing.

The film is set to premiere on Netflix and select theaters on December 18th.

Throughout his career, Boseman has earned 10 awards include the 2019 NAACP Image Award for Black Panther.

The 30th annual Gotham Awards will take place virtually on January 11th, 2021.
