The annual GLA Global Gala, hosted by the Global Lyme Alliance (GLA), took place at the elegant Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City on Thursday, October 12, 2023. This spectacular event served a dual purpose: raising awareness about Lyme disease and generating funds for vital research to improve diagnostics, treatments, and ultimately find a cure for Lyme and other tick-borne diseases.

The gala was an unforgettable evening that attracted a diverse mix of invited guests, including celebrities, business leaders, and esteemed scientists. Attendees were treated to a program that left a lasting impression, with a lavish cocktail hour and dinner to start, followed by a special musical performance by the iconic Debbie Gibson. Guiding the event as the Master of Ceremonies was Rosanna Scotto, the Co-Host of FOX 5’s “Good Day New York.” The gala also featured appearances by Broadway star Ashley Loren and Celebrity Ambassador Christopher Meloni.

The highlight of the evening was the recognition of Kenzie Vath, a Lyme warrior who is not only a devoted wife and loving mother but also a dedicated hotelier. Her unwavering efforts in raising both funds and awareness for Lyme disease were celebrated, underscoring her remarkable contributions to the cause. In a heartwarming addition, GLA introduced a new award, generously sponsored by philanthropists Bob and Karen Kelly, aimed at honoring the heroic endeavors of family members and caregivers who play an indispensable role in the battle against Lyme disease.

The GLA Gala is one of the most anticipated fundraising events in New York City. It is exclusively dedicated to spreading awareness and providing support for research and patient service programs for Lyme and other tick-borne diseases. With the CDC reporting a record number of Lyme disease cases, totaling 476,000 new cases each year in the U.S., the importance of support for patients today and tomorrow cannot be overstated.

The gala’s success was made possible by the dedication of Gala Co-Chairs, including Rose Anastasio, Amy Balducci, Charles Balducci, Diane M. Blanchard, Bob Kelly, Karen Kelly, Robert Kobre, Brett Kristoff, Jarrod Nadel, Lorrie Nadel, Paul B. Ross, Larry Scott, Erin Walker, and Jimmy Walker. VIPs included Leesa Rowland, Jean Shafiroff, Maribel Lieberman, Marc. Bouwer and Pedro Oberto.

The event also saw generous support from Platinum Sponsors, Gold Sponsors, Silver Sponsors, and Supporters who played a vital role in advancing GLA’s mission to conquer Lyme Disease.

As a testament to the effectiveness of such events, last year’s gala managed to raise more than $1.85 million, which has since gone towards furthering GLA’s mission.

The Global Lyme Alliance, or GLA, is the leading nonprofit organization dedicated to conquering Lyme and other tick-borne diseases through innovative research, awareness campaigns, and empowering the patient’s voice. GLA has gained national recognition for funding crucial research in the field of Lyme and other tick-borne diseases. They also provide essential support to patients worldwide through various patient support programs.

In addition to the inspiring awards and powerful speeches, the gala featured a remarkable auction that offered unforgettable experiences:
