It’s an honor to speak with you today. Share with the readers of Sheen Magazine who you are and your story.

I help others has always been a passion of mine since I was a child growing up to see the injustice and balance of power between the government and the community all my life. I decided to pursue a career in Criminal Justice, and a Master’s of Social work, but all the while I worked in banking to get my way through college and that’s how I learned about finance. My friends and family call me the Financial Social Work because I have been able to take my experience in life and school to be able to continue to assist my community with learning about financial and self-growth in all aspects of life. Hence this reason why tax preparation and credit repair are my passions.

What led you to start a career as a tax professional, and can you share a pivotal moment or experience that influenced your choice?

I had no intention of becoming a tax professional, one of my business partners in the credit restoration industry asked if I would like to join a company with her and prepare taxes and I did, and it changed my life. I made it my career due to the lack of knowledge I saw in my community when it came to taxes.

As a tax professional, what continues to drive your passion for this field, and how do you stay motivated year after year?

Learning new tax laws to share with my community, not only helps them but it helps me grow by feeling of obligation to spread the word to them so that we can decrease the wealth gap.

Who are some of your inspirational role models within the tax industry, and how have they influenced your approach to tax planning and advising?

One person I have grown to love in the tax industry is Duke, I love how simple he breaks tax law down. I also have to give much respect to Mr. and Mrs. Rowand had it not been for the platform they created I would not have ever joined the industry they made it simple to start a plug-and-play business for a brand-new entrepreneur.

Can you discuss how the tax industry has evolved and changed over the past few decades, including any notable shifts or trends from 10 years ago and 20 years ago?

I’ve only been in the industry for 5 years, but I have seen an increase in sharing tax knowledge and how it’s now pouring over into other parts of financial literacy bookkeeping, life insurance, investments, etc.
