To no surprise, we’ve just learned that the 2020 Emmys will be held virtually.

Host of the annual award show this year, Jimmy Kimmel and the executive producers have reported to USA Today that the program will be held on September 20th virtually. Nominees could participate from home.

The official letter from the Television Academy said, “This year, it’s still going to be the TV industry’s biggest night out…but we’ll come to you!”

It continued, “We are assembling a top-notch team of technicians, producers and writers to work closely with Jimmy Kimmel and with you and your team, to make sure that we can film with you (and loved ones or whomever else you choose to be with) at your home, or another location of your choice.”

Instead of taking place at the Microsoft Theater, the 72nd Emmy Awards will take place virtually without a red carpet.

This year’s list of nomiations includes Issa Rae, Tracee Ellis Ross, Regina King, Kerry Washintgon, and more!
