We started Derx in 2020, but I had experience cleaning homes for over 30 years. A lot of my ideas for the product came from generational cleaning techniques passed down from my family. But last year there were very few products without harsh ingredients on local shelves. So, I began to create my own product for my kids as well. Surely, we thought of all the harmful irritants that our children are subjected to and we wanted to change that. Derx is a brand that is family-friendly and that all communities can use. Derx’s limited ingredients using a holistic approach with essential oils make every day cleaning safe for adults and our little ones. Derx is a legacy brand that promotes simple ingredients that are not harmful to our youth.
What was the motivation behind creating Derx?
My children were the inspiration behind my brand. I wanted to create a product that I felt safe for them to use. I also wanted to inspire my kids to want to use it. They want to clean up when they see the product.
How are Derx products different from other cleaning products?
Derx stands out not only for what we represent, but we are the only Black-owned wipes company that uses all-natural ingredients. We have a variety of scents as opposed to our competitors.
Derx’s limited ingredients use a holistic approach with essential oils, why was this important?
Non-toxic products are not harmful to your skin, and the environment. Toxic products often leave behind chemicals that are harmful; the average chemical company has Quaternary ammonium compounds, and Hydrogen Peroxide. Derx Wipes do not use these chemicals.
What are some positive effects and benefits that come from using essential oil-based products over other ingredients?
Our products do not have carcinogenic impurity 1,4-dioxane or formaldehyde in them. You can use them on your cell phone, car dash, table, anything. We take them to the grocery store and wipe off the cart handle before shopping. Essential oils have been used for the benefit of the entire mind, body, and spirit. People use natural plant extracts to promote health and well-being.
Where would you like to see Derx in 3 to 5 years?
We definitely need to get on more store shelves and expand to a warehouse.

I want viewers to know that we are a middle-class family, with a passion for helping people. Family is important to us and so is our brand. We pride ourselves on our products because they are all-natural and safe for people to use unlike some brands with many chemicals. Our brand is made with love and the same care and quality we use in our own homes.
