Houston-based R&B singer and songwriter, Jack Freeman, unveils his third studio album Nina, released by Freeman Brand/Illustrate New Ideas, distributed by Venice Music.” The debut marks the beginning of a series from Freeman inspired by Black women, featuring tracks that delve into themes of relationships, love, and pain. Co-produced by Grammy Award-winning songwriter, producer and executive, Bryan-Michael Cox, the album succeeds Freeman’s debut single, “Shine” and his sultry second single “U N D R E S S.”

Six years following Freeman’s second album, Define Love, Nina emerges as a compelling collection of intimate and platonic dialogues and encounters.

“I wanted to create a project that centered around women, specifically, so I’m excited to present my most sonically diverse and well rounded body of work to the world,” says Jack Freeman. “I, along with my collaborators Chris Rockaway, Lab Ox, Kristine Kruta, Felly, Adonis and Bryan-Michael Cox took out time to craft the most intentional music rooted in the beauties and pains of love.”

Throughout Nina, Jack navigates through a spectrum of moods and tempos. With accompaniments ranging from house beats to bounce rhythms and chopped-and-screwed remixes, this album represents the pinnacle of his sonic experimentation. Nina stands as a testament to Freeman’s artistry, showcasing the depth and breadth of his musical talent.

ABOUT JACK FREEMAN

Amid R&B’s continued evolution in sound and style, the demand for voices like Jack Freeman’s is indicative of the genre’s traditional aspects being alive and well. A native of Houston, Texas, Freeman has made it his mission to “make good music and tell the truth,” a mantra that’s earned the singer-songwriter a devoted following throughout his career. In 2011, Jack independently released his debut album Lynnie Free’s Juke Joint and further established himself as a performer after opening for gospel singer PJ Morton the following year. Returning in 2014 with the four-song EP Bliss, the crooner was voted by fans in Houston as 97.9 The Box’s Artist to Watch, cementing his status as a hometown favorite.

Freeman has also made waves within Houston’s Hip-Hop community, appearing alongside Scarface on the song “Hot Seat” from the rapper’s 2015 album Deeply Rooted. He has also featured on releases by Killa Kyleon, Slim Thug, Le$, and more, further entrenching him as one of H-Town’s most sought-after collaborators. In 2016, Freeman was tapped by John Legend to become a member of The AXE Collective and was featured alongside R&B star Joe for Radio One’s Black Music Month celebration that same year. Unleashing Side A of his double-sided EPSpotless Mind in 2015, Freeman returned in 2017 with Spotless Mind: Side B. The release included Freeman’s breakout single, “Nobody,” which was featured on Season 1 of Spike Lee’s Netflix series She’s Gotta Have It. In 2018, the rising star took his next creative leap with his sophomore studio album Define Love, which was accompanied by Chopnotslop remixes by DJ Candlestick and Swishahouse Records co-founder OG Ron. Capitalizing on the momentum, Freeman unveiled another pair of EP’s, Leather and Blood, in 2019 and 2020, respectively. He also hit the road for the Texas leg of the Joe Budden Podcast Tour and has been an opening act for The-Dream, Bilal, John Legend, Anthony Hamilton, Lyfe Jennings, Phife Dawg and more over the past decade.
