Get ready for history to be made tomorrow, Wednesday, January 20th, 2021 when President-elect, Joe Biden and Vice President-elect, Kamala Harris will be sworn into office.

We’ve just learned that Kamala Harris will be sworn into office by Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor. Harris, the first Black, South Asian Female Vice President will take her oath of office from Justice Sonia Sotomayor – the first Latina Justice.

It was reported that Harris handpicked Justice Sonia Sotomayor for this event because of her powerful voice for civil rights and social justice. The two have worked together as prosecutors. Sotomayor once refferred to Thurgood Marshall (the first Black Supreme Court Justice) as one of her heroes.

Back in July, Harris shared a video on Twitter noting that the nation is stronger because of Thurgood Marshall’s powerful voice. Marshall was even the reason she attended Howard University.

At the swearing-in ceremony, Harris plans on using two Bibles – one Bible belonged to Thurgood Marshall while the other Bible belonged to Mrs. Regina Shelton – a woman that acted as a second mother to Kamala Harris and her sister, Maya.
