Meet Leonard Person serial entrepreneur/father/ and all around business man. We had the opportunity to speak with him about being a serial entrepreneur and single parent in this demanding world.
Could you provide us a brief overview of your entrepreneurial experience?
I am a Direct Lender, mortgage broker, whale investor, license GC and developer in New Jersey and I’ve been in the business over 18 years. I’ve expedited quiet title litigations through which I’ve obtained properties free of mortgage. We’ve mastered doing short sales, and I’ve helped tons of people accomplish their real estate goals through our investment group programs and workshop classes that can be found at myhousegramworkshops.com
What are the three most important habits to be a successful entrepreneur?
Be 100% invested in yourself. Be consistent. And keep duplicating your success until you
become wealthy.
What is a typical day like for you? Do you have children?
A typical day for me is thanking God in prayer early in the morning (and before I go to bed). After that it’s emails and phone calls with my attorneys, CPAs, clients, and my team of processors and agents. I’ll take my little one to school in the morning and pick her up [later] while my oldest (18) still tries to figure out life, and how she’s going to get her business up and running with her dad being her support system.
What’s your favorite aspect of being an entrepreneur?
I get to do and say what I want, when I want, how I want, and nobody can do anything about it. I make my own rules, I come and go as I please, nobody can fire me, and I can make as much money as I want. There are no limitations to [my] success.
What are the biggest challenges to being an entrepreneur?
Finding loyal people to work with you or for you. The goal is to be incorporated because an entrepreneur is a one-man team, and it takes more than one man to accomplish certain goals. You need a dedicated team, but you also need to build a system that can run on autopilot. That’s when you graduate from an entrepreneur to a household brand corporation. That’s the goal.
How do you stay on top of industry trends?
News publications, word-of-mouth and social media.
How do you balance being a single dad with owning and operating a business?
God and a lot of prayer. You really have to make a routine for your kids and your day- to-day business. Making a routine is putting together an itinerary for the week with timelines. That will definitely help you put things in order and give you a lot of clarity on the direction you need to go to execute your weeks.
