Tell us about yourself.

I am a licensed counselor who has been working in the mental health field for many years. I am nationally certified as a counselor and I have impacted the community in Alabama and Georgia, by providing counseling, advocacy and support . I’m a educator for an university. I also founded a nonprofit organization called Sister’s 2nd Chance that helps to empower and support struggling women. I have authored books to focus on mental illness and decreasing stigma. The last book completed was called “Dealing with Loved Ones Suffering with a Mental Illness”.  I host a podcast and YouTube channel that focuses on motivation, mental health and relationships. I strive to inspire and empower women that have dealt with abuse, molestation, suicide and many other issues that comes with life.

What made you want to become a licensed counselor in the mental health field?

I had watched some of my family members deal with mental illness and I wanted to understand why and what was happening to them.

On top of that you are an educator, and founder of a non-profit organization. How do you juggle all these roles in your everyday life?

I honestly do not know. I just strive not to give up and remember that I am doing this for my sons and I want to uplift and impact the community in a positive way.

Can you tell us about Sister’s 2nd Chance?

It is a nonprofit organization that focuses on providing support, motivation and empowerment to women. We provide financial assistance, free counseling and many other things that could be possible challenges.

Tell us about your podcast and YouTube channel.

My podcast is called Keepin It Authentic and it focuses on motivation, mental health and relationships. It is on several platforms, such as Google Podcasts, Anchor, Spotify and more. My YouTube focuses on similar topics, but my audience gets to connect with me  visually.

Why is abuse, molestation, and suicide so important to you and how do you hope to bring awareness to it?

I have experienced physical abuse in a previous  relationship, molestation as a young girl and I have felt like giving up when things got tough. It is important to me that I motivate people not to give up on life, because they too have a purpose to serve in this world.
