Brooke and Xavier, both passionate creatives, initially crossed paths during their graduate studies in Boca Raton, FL. Their connection, rooted in a shared love for artistic expression, quickly evolved into a deep friendship that laid the foundation for their enduring marriage. Now, after 13 years of matrimony, their union has blossomed into a harmonious blend of love and partnership.

What do you define as success?

For us, success is intricately tied to the dynamic growth of our presence across social platforms, where we strive to cultivate a community that resonates with our brand values. We measure success not only in terms of follower numbers but in the authentic engagement and awareness our brand generates. Our ultimate goal is to secure impactful brand deals and foster paid sponsorship relationships with like-minded companies, leveraging these collaborations to amplify our influence while concurrently nurturing the expansion of our clothing line, podcast, Influencer and wrapping paper businesses.

What was the inspiration behind your podcast?

Our podcast, Balanced Behavior, was conceived with the mission to promote Black love, joy, and effective parenting. Rooted in the belief that positive representation matters, we aim to share stories, insights, and discussions that contribute to a more inclusive and uplifting narrative surrounding black relationships and family dynamics, fostering a sense of unity and understanding within our community.

What makes your business unique?

Our business Brooke Deron Apparel stands out as a fashion brand that transcends trends, emphasizing individuality and comfort in personal style. Rooted in the philosophy of inspiring confidence, it offers a unique blend of contemporary fashion and empowerment.

Our business Wrapper’s Delight, The Wrap Culture, distinguishes itself by addressing a gap in the market, providing culturally rich and diverse gift wrap options. With a commitment to inclusivity, the brand seeks to redefine celebrations by offering wrapping solutions that authentically represent a wide range of traditions and cultures.

What challenges have you faced as a couple running a business together?

Our biggest challenge as a couple in business has been maintaining a clear separation between our personal and professional lives. We are workaholics and establishing work hours and sticking to them has been one of our biggest struggles.

How do you balance your personal and professional lives as business partners?

Establishing a healthy work/life balance is so important to us. We work really well together and luckily; we actually enjoy it. Because we enjoy it, sometimes work doesn’t feel like work. It feels like quality time instead. We do find it very important to dedicate time to our children and make it a priority to continue dating each other.

What’s your best piece of advice for aspiring and new entrepreneurs?

Be passionate about the work, not just the dream. Do it afraid. Find a mentor that’s willing to teach and give you advice.
