Every year, June marks Pride Month, which is dedicated to amplifying LGBTQ+ voices all around the world, while celebrating their accomplishments.

And if you’re based in Los Angeles, there’s only one place you had to be this past weekend: LA Pride in the Park. Deemed “one of the most sought after and largest official Pride concerts in the country,” this year’s two-day event featured headlines Megan Thee Stallion and Mariah Carey, on Friday and Saturday respectively.

Meg Thee Stallion has had a roller coaster of a year, but when she hits that stage, nothing else matters. The H-town Hottie opened her set with her standout hit “Her,” rocking a black and silver ensemble with heeled boots. Meg looked beautiful, healthy, and non-stressed, proving the effects of drinking her water and minding her business.

She also brought over 25 people on stage to twerk with her, including famous TikToker Markell Washington who stole the show for a brief moment.

OnSaturday, the diva herself Mariah Carey headlined the event. Mariah had extravagant stage presence, entering by way of a moving seashell and emerging in a sparkly gown. She performed timeless hits such as “Fantasy,” “We Belong Together,” and “Shake It Off.” Her set included backup singers, a parade with actual floats, a piano, a coffee table set with tea and water, and dancers, bringing an energy of unity, love, and divaness to the event.

Overall, LA Pride in the Park was a glorious celebration of pride and glory that made everyone feel accepted for who they are. The event was a true representation of what’s inside, as it celebrated diversity and inclusivity.

This year’s Pride celebration was hosted by Christopher Street West Association (CSW), the 501(c)3 nonprofit that’s produced the epic LA Pride festivities for over 50 years.
