Colman Domingo

INSPIRATION:

“Tonight’s look is sexy and romantic, harnessing the dark nuisance of the “Sleeping Beauties”. Colman really wanted to honor men who came before him with his look tonight. 

To start, I make sure Colman’s skin is fresh & clean using La Mer Cool Micellar Cleanser. After cleansing, I groom & shape his mustache with my favorite Andis beard edger. To ensure his skin glows all day, I will follow up with Aesop Blue Chamomile Hydrating Mask. It is so hydrating and leaves the skin with a perfect dewy finish!

After masking, I add La Mer Lifting & Firming serum for hydration all day, followed by Danessa Myricks Beauty, Yummy Skin Water Powder Serum. To give the serums an ultra boost, help with travel puffiness, and add extra glow, I use the Solawave Red Light Therapy wand. Not only does it help Colman’s skincare effectiveness, it’s also a 12 minute mini spa session where he can just relax and center himself.

To finish, I apply Aesop Camellia Nut Facial Hydrating Cream – this is a matte finish moisturizer that balances all of the super-glow products we use in his skin prep!

For Colman’s makeup, I start with Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Serum Skin Tint to really even out his complexion. Since this is the Met, we’re pushing his glow a bit, and using Colorfix Liquid Metal in Licla Flame mixed with his skin tint to pop on the high points of his face. For concealer, I use Danessa Myricks BeautyVision Cream Cover where needed. I add a bit of Danessa Myricks Beauty Blurring Balm Powder to finish his complexion, and make sure that he is set for the night! To blend Colman’s hairline and bring everything together, I use Danessa Myricks Beauty Balm Contour. To finish the look tonight, we are using Colorfix Mattes in Chestnut, and a clear gloss to really pop his pout!”

“For this year’s Met Gala we were inspired by the theme “Sleeping Beauty Reawakening Fashion” so we decided to something that was bold and earthy so we did a glossy earth toned Ombré lip and paired it with a warm toned Cat Eye.”

INSPIRATION:

“Couldn’t do the @metgalaofficial_ without partnering with one of my favorite brands @danessamyricksbeauty!! For @tarajiphenson ‘s look today, I wanted to go with pastel colors especially pink to bring out the subtle hombre of pinks in her gown.”

BEAUTY BREAKDOWN:

  • First I prepped the skin with the Yummy Skin Water Powder Serum
  • Then I went on to use a mixture of the  Yummy Skin Serum Skin Tint in shade 9 with the Vision Cream Cover Palette using W04 as her foundation color and working in W01 for her concealer throughout the T-zone. Add the vision cream and add a tad more coverage for the red carpet. 
  • Contoured the perimeter of her face with Balm Contour in Medium 3 and the bridge of her nose with Medium 2 to finish off the dimension in the face.  
  • I blended and spread the ColorFix Pastels in Bunny over eyelids and cheekbones as a bright color base then added a sheer base of the Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder in It Girl for a brighter pink pull of color. 
  • I followed the same steps for the lips as the eyes and cheeks and topped off with Colorfix Glazes in Clear

BEAUTY BREAKDOWN:

Get the look using Danessa Myricks Beauty complexion products for a flawless male grooming application.

  •  Prep the Skin: with Cerave Ultra Light Moisturizing Gel 
  • Start by choosing a ColorFix Nude shade that matches the skin tone. Then apply a small amount to the back of your hand and use a small Fluffy stippling brush to spot treat and color correct any blemishes on the skin. You can also use the ColorFix Nudes as a contour or bronzer. Apply a small amount to the hollows of your cheeks, temples, and jawline, then blend well for a natural look.
  • After the color fix has dried. Apply a small amount of Yummy Skin Serum Skin Tint to the back of your hand and use the Yummy Skin Microfiber Velvet Sponge to gently blend the Yummy Skin Serum Skin Tint into his skin, starting from the center of your face and blending outwards.
  • Using the Yummy Skin Velour Puff press the Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder into the skin to help mattify the t zone areas and lock in the skin tint. 
  • Finish the Look with Caudalie setting spray
