Juneteenth – also known as Freedom Day, marks the end of slavery in the United States. It took place on June 19th, 1985.

Pharrell is definetly on a mission. Just last week, he played a big part in making his home state of Virginia acknowledge June 19th as an official holiday.

Barris also discussed the importance of the holiday in a special Juneteenth episode on his Netflix series, #blackAF.
