This year’s theme for the 2021 BET Awards is “Year of the Black Woman,” so what better way to celebrate than to honor the Queen herself, right?

We’ve just learned that actress and rapper, Queen Latifah will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award this year at the upcoming award show.

In case you didn’t know, Queen Latifah became the first hip-hop artist to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2006. She also became the first rapper to appear in a Super Bowl halftime show.

In 1995, she won the 1995 Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance.

Today, she serves as executive producer and stars in the CBS reboot of The Equalizer.

The 2021 BET Awards will be hosted by actress, Taraji P. Henson and will take place on Sunday, June 27th at 8 PM EST.

Congratulations Queen Latifah!
