Back in 2015, rapper SK8 opened up for award-winning artists such as Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, and Rae Sremmurd. Fast-forward to 2021 and he’s creating his own lane in music with goals that will take him and his love for music to the top of the charts. Just last month, SK8 released his new project titled, “Pages” and we wanted to obtain all the details surrounding it. In our exclusive interview with SK*, he share insight on his latest project and what’s next to come in 2022.

Tell us about your single, “Pages.”

Pages is one of the singles that is off of my project. We have 12 songs on the project. Pages is one of my favorite. It was created during the pandemic. Drummer, Rook and I locked ourselves in the studio and made a bunch of records. Pages is definitely one of our favorites.

What inspired the visuals for “Pages”?

This one was a lot different from how I usually shoot my videos. Last year, we were in Orlando and Miami. Strictly for the video, Rook and I were in Orlando for my birthday. It was my 26th birthday. We went down to Florida to mess around. Pages was already finished. We were at The Sausage Castle. Mike Busey owns The Sausage Castle, outside of Orlando. It has carnival rides and crazy shit. We went down there for four days and thought to shoot a video. We listened back to all of the songs and “Pages” was the one. I had my videographer there with me. We kind of just put it together right there, no team. Just three people coming up with ideas. It turned out really dope because it was super organic and authentic. That video was a spur of the moment type shit. Honestly, it’s one of my favorite videos to date. The video was cool because we didn’t plan it out at all.

You’ve worked with a great amount of notable artists in the industry, but would you say there has been one that has left a special mark on your career?

There are multiple artists that I grew up listening to that are now my friends. I’ve come across so many people. Wiz Khalifa is an artist I grew up listening to. Now, he is someone that is a positive influence and a leader in my life. I would say Wiz, because he’s helped me maneuver the business. He’s a great friend of mine.

What are you working on now and what can we expect to see from you in 2022?

I’’m always working. I’m always going to the studio because it is my sanctuary. It’s how I get all my thoughts out. I’m always working on new stuff. Right now, we finally have the 12 songs turned in so I’m happy that this project is finished. My main goal is to complete a few cover art and shoot more videos with great features. I think it’s going to make a cool impact and people can really relate to the songs. Right now, we’re focusing on videos for the album.
