Earlier this year, it was revealed that Sephora pledged to dedicate 15% of their shelf space to Black-owned beauty brands and since then it appears they are heading in the right direction.

The mass beauty retailer is planning to kick off 2021 by focusing on brands founded and owned by blacks.

Sephora this new program will be a new version of their Accelerate incubation program. For five years, thos program has focused on creating a community of women-owned and founded brands.

In order to be elgible, you must be a person of color who owns a makeup, skin-care, fragrance, wellness, hair, and/or accessory brand, be owned and operated in the U.S., be at least 18 years old, and be an early-stage brand (with at least a lab sample or prototype) not yet distributed widely by others.

After selecting companies, the founders of the brands will undergo a six-month program that includes training, mentorship, grants, funding, and much more that will prepare them for the opportunity of launching their brand in Sephora.
