Fashion’s most coveted guest list included Kim Kardashian, Halle Bailey, Lala, Ice Spice and of course, Rihanna!

The first Monday in May is one of the most highly anticipated days on the fashion calendar. Stars swarmed the iconic stairs of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City in their couture and high-fashion best. This year’s theme— “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” —honored the late German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, who designed for numerous fashion houses from Chanel and Fendi, to Balmain and Chloè. Chaired by actresses, Michaela Cole and Penelope Cruz; tennis star, Roger Federer; singer, Dua Lipa and Vogue legend, Anna Wintour, this year’s gala brought out tons of stars in jaw-dropping black and/or white ensembles. There were too many great moments to choose from so, we narrowed it down to our favorite all-white looks—check them out below!

Lala
The native New Yorker brought sophistication and vintage glamour to the night. Paying homage was definitely on the actress’ radar—she shared that she was purposeful in wanting to wear a black designer—Sergio Hudson. While being interviewed on the red carpet she praised him for making the experience “so memorable” and “so easy”.

Kim Kardashian

The fashion influencer and soon-to-be-lawyer wore a custom cream, corset-bodice dress by Schiaparelli. The impressive gown was made up of over 50,000 freshwater pearls and 16,00 crystals—taking over 1,000 hours to be completed.

Halle Bailey

The songstress and “The Little Mermaid” actress was giving “under-the-sea” princess vibes ahead of her big screen debut later this month. Halle wore a stunning mermaid-style embroidered dress with an equally stunning ruffle coat.

Ice Spice

Being as she’s the hottest, newest rapper out of New York City, it was only right that Ice Spice be invited to the Big Apple’s hottest event. The “Princess Diana” rapper wore a stunning, yet compared to her peers—understated, gown. Simple it was not however; the custom Balmain design was covered in head-to-toe Swarovski crystals.

Rihanna

Rihanna made the grandest and most-awaited arrival of the night in custom Valentino alongside her boyfriend, ASAP Rocky (wearing Gucci), who seemingly opted for a low-key ensemble to let his lady shine. Rih arrived in a mega-oversized floral hoodie (she loves to incorporate streetwear details in high-fashion looks—remember her durag-clad Vogue cover?)—shortly after she allowed it rest on her arms, revealing a beautiful spaghetti-strap gown with a massive train.

In the words of Rihanna, the night looked “Expensive!”
