The Frank Ski Kids Foundation announces its 2024 Planet Green Science Contest Winners!

Ten young scholars have been selected to join The Frank Ski Kids Foundation on their 2024 Planet Green Science Expedition, an unforgettable all-expense paid trip from June 17th-26th to study the effects of climate change on The Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

For 20 years, The Frank Ski Kids Foundation has been empowering young scholars to explore the world, discover their passions, and build valuable life skills through unique educational adventures. Previously only open to residents of Georgia, in 2024, The Frank Ski Kids Foundation’s Planet Green Science Expedition expanded the contest nationwide. Essays were received from 13-15-year-old students from across the country focusing on The Great Barrier Reef in Australia and why it’s so important to the Earth’s ecosystem. Many of the essays focused on the impact of human-created pollution and plastic debris on the destruction of the reef and its aquatic life. The Frank Ski Kids Foundation has empowered hundreds of young scholars to explore the world, discover their passions, and build valuable life skills through unique educational adventures. Donations can be made through Frankskikids.org to cover flights, passports, meals, lodging, and apparel provided to each student at no additional cost.

Ten applicants presented their essays orally in front of a live audience and panel of judges at Howard University (Washington, DC) and The Georgia Aquarium (Atlanta, GA). In each city, 5 winners were selected. The top ten explorers will embark on a seven-day immersion in Australia to participate in a hands-on itinerary of activities that offer a comprehensive educational experience focused on climate change, The Great Barrier Reef, and environmental conservation while providing opportunities for adventure, cultural immersion, and personal growth.
