You can’t talk about females in hip-hop without mentioning the legendary Mary J. Blige. Proudly carrying the title Queen of Hip Hop Soul, the GRAMMY Award-winning and Oscar-nominated singer-songwriter is currently on her Good Morning Gorgeous Tour, with openers Ella Mai and Queen Naija as the openers.

On Sunday, October 9th, Mary J. Blige blessed the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California, performing her 14th studio album Good Morning Gorgeous. Her stage presence is as youthful and energetic as it was when she released her debut studio album, What’s the 411? Mary got her start in 1988 when the late Andre Harrell signed her to Uptown Records.

During her set, Mary performed a few tracks from Good Morning Gorgeous, but she also did an excellent job of performing the majority of the hit records that catapulted her into stardom. Songs like “Real Love,” “Family Affair,” “No More Drama,” “Everything,” “Not Gon’ Cry,” “I Can Love You,” “Just Fine,” and “I’m Goin’ Down” had fans singing for word for word.

Her set included pyrotechnics, a phenomenal light show, 4 outfit changes, and incredible dancers, and Mary even took a second to twerk a couple of times throughout the night just to let the young ones know that she still got it. At 51 years of age, Mary is still on top of her game with no signs of slowing down.

Congratulations to Mary J. Blige on another great body of work, another sold-out tour, and cementing her legacy even further.
