As January marks Cervical Health Awareness Month, we caught up with an incredible expert who is at the forefront of women’s health and is revolutionizing the landscape of gynecology and obstetrics in the New York tri-state area.

Dr. Peggy Roberts, a board-certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, has dedicated over a decade to providing exceptional care for women of all ages. Her profound commitment to addressing the unique healthcare needs of women has made her a beacon of hope for countless individuals whose voices have been overlooked for far too long.

What was the inspiration behind starting your women’s healthcare center?

Dr. Roberts: My inspiration was rooted in Black maternal morbidity and mortality. BIPOC women often have their symptoms dismissed or their concerns are not addressed. I wanted to create a welcoming haven for women, dedicated to providing an exceptional health experience where every woman’s concerns are addressed.

Do you believe in work-life balance? If so, how do you maintain it?

Dr. Roberts: Absolutely! I try to create time for self-care and family. Taking time for yourself allows you to be the best version of you, not only for yourself, but for your loved ones, friends, and clients.

What’s your best piece of advice for aspiring and new entrepreneurs?

Dr. Roberts: Lead with passion, demonstrate diligence, and allow time to nurture the business you were destined to build.

What would attract listeners to your story?

Dr. Roberts: My personal journey into entrepreneurship was somewhat unconventional and not originally part of my plan. My story embodies dreams, determination, and the power of resilience.

What specific areas of women’s health do you focus on in your practice?

Dr. Roberts: I focus on PCOS, irregular and painful periods, abnormal vaginal discharge, menopause and preparing women for pregnancy.

How do you approach providing comprehensive care to women, considering both their physical and emotional well-being?

Dr. Roberts: It begins by offering flexibility in scheduling, including the option for same-day appointments. We have established an environment where clients receive generous time for effective and attentive care. Our commitment is to reach out to each client, providing them with their test results, whether they bring positive or challenging news.

What are some common health concerns or issues that women face, and how do you address them in your practice?

Dr. Roberts: Women encounter challenges such as irregular or painful periods, abnormal vaginal discharge, fibroids, and menopause, among others. We offer personalized care to address each of these concerns.
