The time has finally arrived: CHIKA unveils her highly-anticipated debut album titled SAMSON: THE ALBUM. On Friday, July 28th, the Grammy-nominated recording artist held an intimate release party at Grandmaster Records, a venue that has seen the likes of Stevie Wonder, Kanye West, David Bowie, Billy Idol, and Foo Fighters come through. Before doors could open at 8pm, CHIKA had already garnered a line down the block full of fans, friends, and industry execs alike.

Upon entry was a room illuminated by blue and purple hues and models dressed in roman-period guises. The sound of classic hip-hop tracks from the early 2000’s flooded the space. As CHIKA arrived, playback for SAMSON: THE ALBUM had begun. Heavily inspired by the biblical character of the same name, SAMSON: THE ALBUM tells the story of unshakeable triumph that morphs into self-inflicted suffering before finally reaching much-deserved redemption.

From thought-provoking tracks to infectious beats, this album showcases CHIKA’s boundless artistry and her ability to connect deeply with her audience. The album features guest appearances from Lin-Manuel Miranda, Freddie Gibbs, Snoop Dogg, and Stevie Wonder.

At the end of playback CHIKA hit the stage to provide some comic relief and thanked everyone for their continued support through the delay of the album due to the pandemic. She stressed that the release of SAMSON: THE ALBUM isn’t just a celebratory moment for her, but also for all of the supporters she gained throughout her career — because they’ve both patiently waited for this moment.
